The Corrupt School System - an exposition based on a conversation

The Corrupt School System Rafindra Bhima (28) & M. Auliya Fadhilah (19) | X5 As 16-year-old students who 's been through the ups and downs of the education system, we feel like it's important to talk about the things that just aren't working. We've noticed some serious flaws that make school feel like a drag rather than an exciting place to learn. Let us tell you a little bit further about why our school system needs a serious makeover.   1. Too Much Focus on Tests We seriously need to talk about the obsession with tests. It feels like our worth as students is based solely on how well we perform on exams. But what about our creativity, problem solving skills, and critical thinking? School should be about exploring our passions and developing skills beyond just memorizing facts. Why don’t we just focus on the bigger picture and dive in to our individual talents.   2. Ignoring Different Learning Styles “Raise your hand” if you've ever felt frustr...

My Memorable Chat with Rafi

It was a fairly hot day. It was the morning of January the 28th. We had a swimming schedule that day on Jl. Tongkeng, and that was our first swimming schedule. It was our PE program from school, so of course we were thrilled. But aside from the euphoric excitement, some of us were also confused as to whether we should or shouldn’t shower before we swim. So that morning, when I’m already on my way to the swimming pool, Rafi texted me. He asked me if I had already left my house yet, which I responded “yes” since I have. He then proceeded to ask me “Did you take a shower first before you leave?” and I replied “Yes, I did”. He then asked me another question about my outfit. “In what kind of clothes are you dressed?” and I replied by sending him a pic of my swimming suit. He then thanked me for my response, because now, he has a brief idea to what he had to do and wear to the swimming pool. Rafi: Raf, have you gone yet? Rafindra: Yes I’m on my way Rafi: Did you shower first before you leave...

A Way to End 2022

2022 was a very long yet quick year. It was the year I learned so many memorable lessons and experiences, in which I will always cherish to my grave. I am fortunate enough to tell you that I ended 2022 with a very great holiday.       Early December, I was busy with the finals, but mid-December until early January was holiday. Several days after the finals, there was this event at school where we all have a simulation of life from the beginning, the process, until the end of mankind. The event was actually a form of closing of one of the many programs in my school, this time it was the MT PAI program, so we had a chance to look at life from another perspective. I consider that to be part of my holiday, because my definition of holiday is when you are no longer burdened with pressure from school or work or any other regular thing you usually do on a regular basis. Holiday is that time of the year when you can be free, do whatever you like, wherever...

My Untold Experience

Image
This blog is posted on September 15th 2022, but this photo was taken almost a month ago on August 18th. This photo tells you the story of our first english group assignment. My group consisted of Muthia, Rafi, Hamzah, Ibrahim, and of course, yours truly. We were asked to draw and tell our untold stories. So we chose to combine our stories to create a new one. The first story was from Ibrahim. He told us that he once went to a haunted house ride with his brother and they got lost. But then they met another group that played the ride after them. So they chose to follow the strangers until they got out of the ride. The second story was from Rafi. He told us that he watched Pengabdi Setan 2 at the cinema with Zaidan. During an intense moment, Rafi surprised Zaidan by abruptly grabbing his leg. Zaidan screamed in the cinema studio like a little girl. It was very funny and very embarassing.
